Michael Slipowitz, FSA is Chief Actuary, Senior Vice President and Head of the Closed Block Business Unit for MONY Life Insurance Company (MONY), the primary insurance subsidiary of The MONY Group Inc. (NYSE: MNY). The MONY Group is a financial services organization that provides financial protection, asset accumulation and retail brokerage products and services for individual and institutional clients through several member companies.

In running MONY's Closed Block Business Unit, Slipowitz is responsible for overseeing the servicing of pre-demutualization life insurance and annuity business. This includes mostly whole life and annuity insurance policies that were sold prior to MONY's 1998 conversion from a mutual to a stock life insurer. Overall, the mission of the Closed Block Business Unit is to build shareholder value while meeting the company's obligations to policyholders.

Slipowitz joined MONY in 1980. Since then, his importance and responsibility in the company have increased significantly. In 1989, he was promoted to Vice President and Corporate Actuary and, from 1993 to 2001, he served as Vice President - Financial Actuarial. In 2002, he was appointed Chief Actuary and promoted to Senior Vice President.

Slipowitz is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a member of the Board of Directors of the parent company of U.S. Financial Life Insurance Co. - a member company of The MONY Group Inc.

He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College with an A.B. in accounting in 1980.
